News & Christmas Greetings from Copdock
Well what a busy and rather festive week we have had.
Thank you to everyone for your support this week during a challenging time for some of our families. We hope you all manage to get plenty of rest over the Christmas period and where possible can catch up with family and friends in a safe way. Staff are certainly ready for a rest and some downtime to recharge.
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our Nativity and Christmas singing this week. The children did a wonderful job (as they always do) and made us all feel a little 'fuzzy' as we watched them shine! Hopefully you have been able to access the links to the recordings.
PTA Update
As you know I step down as Chair this year and am passing the baton to Hannah Carpenter who has kindly agreed to take this role.
It’s been a tough year for all of us and having to think of innovative ways to fund raise when we have been unable to mix has been challenging.
Laurie and I have been involved in the PTA since Abigail started in 2015, but we are now looking forward to attending the events rather than organising them all!
Here’s wishing the new PTA committee, Hannah Carpenter, Laura Houlden and Kim Noble with the assistance of the volunteers, every success in the future so that they can continue to make a difference to their child’s learning journey.
School dinner payments
As previously mentioned, we will be accepting payments via the School Spider app after Christmas. This will initially be for school lunches but we will be opening this up to pay for any visits and wider school payments from January. Please ensure you have downloaded the app as this makes it extremely simple. More infor will follow in January.
See attached leaflet if you have not already downloaded the app.
Online Safety
With Christmas around the corner, we thought it would be timely to support you in ensuring any new (or old) devices are set up to ensure children are safe if accessing online sites. Please see the attached link to support you in checking devices https://parentzone.org.uk/article/getting-tech-ready-christmas
You may have heard about the recent Online Safety Bill report from Dame Rachel de Souza, 'The Things I Wish My Parents Had Known'. It details important guidance for parents to consider when discussing issues around sexualised bullying and the pressures of growing up online. The key message is talk early, talk often.
Queen's Jubilee
Advance notice - Schools have been given some discretion as to when to take the bank holiday for the Queen's jubilee as it falls in the school May half term. We have consulted with our local primary schools and made the decision to finish school a day earlier in July. Therefore our last day of the summer term will be Wednesday 20th July.
Wishing you all some festive fun!
