Copdock Weekly Update 24/06/2022

Some of you noticed I failed to press the SEND button last Friday on the newsletter email - I was obviously far too eager to get the weekend started!  Thank you to those of you who do take the time to read it and noticed it wasn't there.  Even if the email doesn't arrive, the newsletter can always be found on the school website.  At the bottom of the home page is a button for School News.  Previous newsletters can also be located here if you need to refer back.

Jubilee Gifts

This week we had visitors in assembly who gave all of the children a commemorative bible.  These were kindly donated by the Trinitartian Bible Society.  The children have also received a copy of 'Queen Elizabeth, A Platinum Jubilee Celebration' provided to all school children to recognise the jubilee.

Gardening Party

We are looking for some willing parent volunteers to help us out in the allotment area.  As you may have noticed it has become somewhat overgrown.  Having had to keep the chickens shut away for some time we haven't had them to attack the weeds which were well established by the time we were allowed to release them again.  Please let us know if you would be willing to donate a little bit of time, and whether an evening would work better than a weekend.  Thank you in advance.

Class Photos

Our annual class photos were taken on Tuesday, the children were given a voucher to bring home containing all the information you require to be able to order the photos once they are available on the Bentley Photographic website.  Please bear with them as they add them to the website.  The school has no direct influence on the timescale.  You are able to select for the photos to be delivered via school, in which case we will distribute them when we receive them.  Again, we are reliant on the company for their delivery dates, but please adhere to any deadline they give you.

Sports Day

Tuesday afternoon saw a brilliant turnout for our picnic and sports day.  The children did really well, just coping with the heat, let alone participating in the events.  All of the teams did excellently, all scoring well into the 200s.  The sports crew and year 6s helped the younger children through their first sports day with great compassion.  At the end of the day, everyone appeared to have enjoyed it, with the Black team edging in front and just missing out on 300 points!  Well done everyone.

Crucial Crew

Thursday afternoon saw our Foxes head to Stowmarket to learn some vital safety skills, hopefully setting them up for their transition to high school and beyond.

Activity Week

Foxes have a very busy week ahead.  They do not need to wear uniform for the week - appropriate sports type clothing would be ideal.  On Monday they will need swim gear - a one-piece costume for girls and tight fitting trunks (no shorts) for boys.  Please keep an eye on your emails for regular updates of what is required and when.  The main thing to remember is the sleepover on Thursday, please ensure you have confirmed your child is staying by Monday morning.  Packed lunches are required on Wednesday and Thursday.  Children will need collecting from Alton Water please at 3pm on Wednesday.  Younger siblings will be able to wait at school until you are able to return for them.  Please let us know if your child will be attending after school club on Wednesday and we will ensure they are transported back.  If the collection causes you any problems please contact us.  We need to know by Monday if there are any issues with the Wednesday collection to give us time to coordinate transport.  Foxes will bring home a timetable for the week (as attached) with all the information you need.  If you have any questions please let us know.

As a result of the Activity Week, Woodpeckers do not need to wear PE kits on Tuesday.  Please ensure they are in uniform.

Grab & Go Thursday Lunch

Next Thursday's grab & go lunch will be hot dog & wedges accompanied by crunchy veg sticks and followed by an iced cake.  Vegetarian hot dogs are also available, as are jacket potatoes.  There is no need to pre-order these, but please be aware the usual week 1 menu will not be available of Thursday.  This will be the case for the rest of the Thursdays of this term - we'll notify you of the option in the newsletter the week before.
