Copdock Weekly Update 20/05/2022

Uniform

Today was the deadline for uniform orders.  There will not be another order placed until the Autumn term.  Please ensure if you have made payment through the website that you have also completed and sent in an order form.  The website is purely used as a function to allow cashless payment, it is not the ordering process.

Dinner Monies

Please ensure all KS2 dinners are paid for up to date by half term.  These can be paid in cash, by cheque or via the school website.  If you are unsure how many you owe for, please contact the office.  If you are an adult (or non-school pupil) and have ordered a street party lunch, please ensure payment is made prior to the event.  The easiest way for us to administer this is by cash if possible please.

Foxes Football

This afternoon has seen 2 Federation teams of footballers head to St Joseph's College for a soggy tournament.  The children really enjoy mixing and competing.  We look forward to hearing how they got on in next week's Half Termly Newsletter.

KS1 Virtual Bedtime Story

Don't forget our virtual bedtime story at 6:30pm on Thursday - encouraging a good night's sleep before our celebrations on Friday.  To join the story please use this link.  Please ensure all cameras and microphones are off.

Woodpeckers Spellings

Please note that the Woodpeckers spelling test will be on Thursday next week as we are at the Village Hall on Friday.

Jubilee Celebrations

So, next Friday sees our Federation come together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.  Today was the deadline for Jubilee Tokens to be purchased in advance.  Don't worry if you missed them.  They will be available on the day, and you can still have a go on the stalls without the pre-arranged tokens.  Please remember if you didn't pre-order a lunch, you will need to send a packed lunch on the day.

It is really important for our planning to have an idea of numbers.  Please ensure you have completed this Form (sent out earlier) to let us know when you will be joining us.  Please ensure you answer ALL of the questions - we have had some responses without names, and some with names but no answers.  Remember, ALL children will need to be collected from the Village Hall at the end of the day, unless they are attending After School Club, please let us know if this is the case.

Free School meals applications for Year 2 families

Please find attached a Free School Meals poster, if your child will start Key Stage 2 in September and you believe you are eligible, please ensure that you make an application for free school meals online at: www.suffolk.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.  If you have any queries, please contact them direct.

Federation Review

Governors would like to thank parents for their responses to the Federation Questionnaire for Parents.  Communication if a key focus for us in our regular meetings and your feedback helps us to ensure we are catering both for your needs, as well as those of your children.

We have reviewed all responses and have implemented a number of these immediately into our planning. More information will follow in due course.  Some of the areas highlighted by parents were already being addressed and you will have received information on these in the weekly updates, for example the opportunity for new parents to come into the schools for a 'check-in & chat'.  A number of regular activities had to be deferred due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, including restricting parents from coming into school and activities involving pupils of both schools.  We are now very pleased to have combined activities in the diary for Year 4 and Years 5 & 6, as well as opportunities for parents to visit the schools again.

With best wishes

Peter Drew, on behalf of the Personnel and Communications Committee

Website

Please remember to keep an eye on the website.  Every week we add details of events etc from third parties.  Some of them are activities or childcare during holidays, some are sporting opportunities, some could be competitions.  Now that events are picking up again we are trying to keep the calendar up to date so you can see things that may be coming up.  Don't forget you can now pay for lots of things via the school website too.  Our weekly newsletters are also available on the website, alongside any letters sent home.  Downloading the app is the best way to keep on top.  If you have any access issues, please let us know.
