Copdock Weekly Update 20/01/2023

Foundation Stay & Play

Parents of Foundation children are welcome to come into school from 2:45pm on Tuesday afternoons for stay and play sessions.  No booking needed, just turn up if you can make it.

Story Suitcases

This week in Squirrels, Kittens and Woodpeckers we are launching our new story suitcases to encourage reading for pleasure at home.  Each week one child from each class will be picked to take home the class story suitcase.  Inside will be a book for you to read at home and a reading log to write about the book in (along with some other goodies to enjoy).  Please make sure that when it is your turn to take the suitcase home, all the items are taken care of and returned the next Friday in the same condition, so that everyone is able to enjoy them.  We are really excited to hear what you this of your class story!

Children's Mental Health Week

We have Children's Mental Health Week coming up from 6th to 12th February.  Our Peer Mentors will be delivering an assembly to the school on Monday 30th March.  This year's theme is 'Let's Connect'.  We will be concluding the week with a "Dress to Express" day on Friday 10th February so children can come in clothing and colours to express themselves.  "Dress to Express" is an opportunity for self-expression and celebrating a diverse range of emotions.  As part of this day we are hoping to have a photobooth to raise funds for our nurture area and resources.  Children will be able to dress up and have a photo taken for £1.  If anyone has any resources we could borrow for the photobooth we would be grateful - please bring item into school, maybe hats, glasses, scarves, handbags etc.

Junior Road Safety

The school council are taking part in the Junior Road Safety Scheme and over the coming weeks they have planned to monitor parking at the end of the day to promote road safety.  The week they have enjoyed learning about highway laws with Hannah which will help them to understand and identify parking that is safe.  Thank you Hannah.
