Copdock Weekly Update 02/12/2022

Bypass Nursery

We would love to see as many children as possible singing at Bypass Nurseries on Wednesday, please arrive about 5:15pm so that you are ready to sing at half past.  No need to book, just turn up on the day - everybody welcome and encouraged to come along.  It would be lovely to see lots of familiar faces in the crowd too.

Fire Drill

This week we held our termly fire drill.  It was the first one for our reception children.  Everyone behaved really sensibly and evacuated the school so well.  Good work children.

Parent Consultations

Thank you to those of you who attended our parent consultations this week.  It's an important part of working in partnership between home and school.

Dress Down Donations

A big thank you to everyone who dressed down in return for a donation to the bottle stall or tombola for next week's Christmas Fayre.

Advent

Today has been a really exciting day in school.  Parents and children have created some beautiful decorations and the hall looks very festive.  The advent tree service has made everyone feel in the Christmas spirit.

Shoutout: Can anyone spare any wire coat hangers for a Woodpeckers crafty creation please?  Just send them in on Monday!  Thank you.

Lates

Please be aware that from Monday 5th December, if your child is late arriving at school (after 8:45am) the school will require an adult to complete our late slip stating the reason for the late arrival.

Flu Catchup

For those children who were absent for the flu immunisation last week, the nursing team are returning on Monday.  If you hadn't already consented/declined consent, please do so via the link shared previously.  The portal closes 15:45 on Sunday.

PTA

The PTA has a very busy week ahead!  The annual Wreath Night is on Tuesday.  There will be a virtual meeting on Wednesday at 8pm (link in the diary section below) to finalise arrangements for this year's Christmas Fayre taking place after school on Friday at the Village Hall.  Please ensure all stubs, monies and unsold raffle tickets are returned as soon as possible.  Tickets will be available to purchase at the event.  Children need collecting from school by parents/carers and taking to the Fayre.

Christmas Performances

Please note the booking system for the tickets closes at 5pm on Wednesday 7th December.  This allows us time to get tickets out to you.  Thank you for your patience with booking the tickets - we appreciate your feedback and aim to improve these processes as we move forward.  If we have any spare tickets available we will allocate them as per the waiting list and let you know.

After School Club - Spring Term

Currently we do not have enough children signed up for the KS1 multi skills after Christmas.  This is your last chance to let us know if your child would be interested.  The club would run on a Monday from 3:15-4:15pm.  We need to know by Monday so that we can make the decision for next term.  Thank you to those of you who have already put your child's name down, there is no need to contact us again, just anyone who hadn't already.

Staying Safe Online

This festive season, set your child up for online safety that lasts the whole year.  Whether you're gifting a new device or one that's new-to-them, make sure you set it up before you wrap it up with step-by-step guides and an online safety plan.

For other useful resources to support online safety, don't forget to check out the school website Bentley CEVC & Copdock Primary Federation: Online Safety (bentleycopdock.co.uk)

Governor Vacancies

Following the resignation of one of our parent governors, we would be really keen to hear from any parents who wish to be considered to fill this vacancy.  Information about the role of the governors can be found on the school website here but please contact Mrs Austin for a chat if you would like to know more.  Lauren Bayliss-Fuller has made many contributions during her time as a governor and we are grateful for her time and energy in supporting our Federation.
