Woodpeckers 27.11.23

Date: 23rd Nov 2023 @ 4:13pm

Hello Woodpeckers! Welcome to a new week of learning.

Our Learning Behaviour for week beginning 27.11 will be  'Don't give up'.

Our Value this half term is Trust.

Our words this week to listen out for are -  "emotions" (reactions that humans experience in response to events or situations) and "obedience" (the act or practice of obeying)

Reminders

As we are now in the 2nd half of the Autumn term, please ensure your child has a coat every day as we try and get the children out into the fresh air, weather permitting.  Also can each child have a spare pair of socks brought in on PE days please.

Monday: You all have PE Monday, so please come to school in your PE kits.

Thursday: Sharing assembly at 2.45pm instead of Friday due to decoration and tree/advent service. Also, the form for Christmas dinners must be completed by today. This needs to be filled in even if your child is having a packed lunch.

Friday:  Homework and spellings will be given out. Christmas decoration afternoon followed by the tree service, parents welcome to join for both or just the tree service. Please see newsletter for times.

Homework - as scientists, we found friction a little bit tricky to understand so this will help you - Log on to Curriculum Visions and search friction. Click on the word friction in the search and then click on the book titled Friction read pages 4-7  . There is a speaker so you can listen to it being read if you prefer. Answer the question on page 5 and page 7. Write the answer in your homework book. Remember to count this as one of your reads.

Please could every child bring a cooking apple and an onion into school on Friday 1st so we can make our Christmas fayre chutney at the beginning of the following week. This will help us to raise money for school and keep our costs down. Thanks for your help and the glass jars.

Reading as usual.

You will also find the logins for Times Table Rock Stars and Spelling Shed in your planners. Please do log in to these websites to practise your spellings and times tables.

Reading Giants

Please read at least 5 times and note them in your Planners. Remember, this can be reading your school reading book, reading your own books, reading a magazine/comic, listening to a story read by a grown-up, listening to a story on a device (such as a Tonie box), watching a story online/on TV (eg CBeebies Bedtime story). We are promoting a love of reading, so read what you enjoy - just remember to write it in your Planner and ask your grown-up to sign it each week. Mrs Shand will check the planners each Friday and will give you a sticker on our Reading Giants chart if you have had at least 5 reading sessions! Remember - we are working as a team to collect the most reads so if you don't read at home, your  year team won't have a chance at winning the most reads across the school.

Times Tables

Another battle has been set alongside our class one. Bentley Year 3s and 4s are now competing against Woodpeckers! Come on Copdock!

Spellings - in homework books.

We have enough glass jars now so thank you for bringing those in.  Date for your diary - Wed 13th Dec KS2 Christmas concert at the church 6pm.

Any questions, we're always on the playground at the end of the day- please speak to us.

Mrs Jordan and Miss Cross
