Date: 18th Sep 2023 @ 10:08am

Hello Woodpeckers!

We hope you had a good weekend.

Our Learning Behaviour for week beginning 25.09 will be 'work hard'.

Our Value this half term is Thankfulness.

Our words to listen out for next week are 'source' -the origin of something and 'property' -a quality or characteristic that
something has.

Reminders

Monday: You all have PE Monday morning, so please come to school in your PE kits. Also, many of you will be going swimming in the afternoon.

Thursday: Harvest service at church. Remember to bring a raincoat as we will be walking to the church. Parents can come to the service at 2.30 or collect at 3.15pm from the church. If you need to go to After School Club, please let the office know ASAP so we know who needs to come back with us in the mini bus.

Friday: Homework to be handed in.  Macmillan coffee afternoon which starts at 2.30 in the hall. Please send your child with 50p if you would like them to have a cake in class.

Homework

Log on to Curriculum Visions (the username and password is in your planner) and click on the speaker for pages 28-31 of How Life Changed in the Victorian Times. The speaker will read to the text to you.  Remember -you count this as one of your reads.  If you were a Victorian, would you be for or against the railway? write a few sentences in your homework book. This will help you with your learning at school.

You will also now find the logins for Times Table Rock Stars and Spelling Shed in your planners. Please do log in to these websites to practise your spellings and times tables.

Reading Giants

Please read at least 5 times and note them in your Planners. Remember, this can be reading your school reading book, reading your own books, reading a magazine/comic, listening to a story read by a grown-up, listening to a story on a device (such as a Tonie box), watching a story online/on TV (eg CBeebies Bedtime story). We are promoting a love of reading, so read what you enjoy - just remember to write it in your Planner and ask your grown-up to sign it each week. Mrs Shand will check the planners each Friday and will give you a sticker on our Reading Giants chart if you have had at least 5 reading sessions!

Times Tables

You have had a look at the website Times tables games - Learn them all here!  There are lots of games to explore on here to help you practise your times tables. Please do enjoy playing these at home.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week!  Any questions, we're always on the playground at the end of the day.
