Woodpeckers 18.03.24

Date: 14th Mar 2024 @ 8:00am

Hi Woodpeckers, we hope you had a good weekend.

Our learning behaviour  is 'Push Yourself''.

Our words for the week are 'iconic'-a person or thing seen as a symbol of something  and 'civilisation'-a society with legal, religious and political organisations.

Our Value this half term is 'Forgiveness'.

Monday: PE today so please come in PE uniform. Please make sure you are wearing the correct clothes for PE as outlined on the website under the Parent tab-uniform. We also have a visitor coming into school to talk about bees.

During the day, we will be going to the Brook Inn to cook with Charlie who is the chef; very exciting!  This follows on from our food festival week. Please ensure children have hair tied back for PE and cooking.

Tuesday

Wednesday: Some of the Year 4s are going to Cross Country with Mrs Windmill - you will have been informed if you are one of those going and have been given the details of the afternoon

Thursday: PE with Mrs Windmill, please wear correct PE uniform. Details are on the website if you are unsure.

Friday:  Dress Down day for PTA. Please bring a chocolate donation so PTA can make some chocloate hampers and raffle prizes. Also, don't forget the PTA disco after school!

There will be raffle tickets on sale every day after school on the playground.  Please spread the word and encourage people to buy as many as they can as this helps raise much needed funds-thank you.

Homework  set- see below

Homework to be completed and handed in on Friday 22nd March

  • TT Rockstars times tables -  keep playing the activities on here to increase your speed and fluency.
  • Reading as usual- see reading giants below.
  • Ancient Greeks - Write the paragraph and punctuate .

You will also find the logins for Times Table Rock Stars and Spelling Shed in your planners. Please do log in to these websites to practise your spellings and times tables.

Reading Giants

Please read at least 5 times and note them in your Planners. Remember, this can be reading your school reading book, reading your own books, reading a magazine/comic, listening to a story read by a grown-up, listening to a story on a device (such as a Tonie box), watching a story online/on TV (eg CBeebies Bedtime story). We are promoting a love of reading, so read what you enjoy - just remember to write it in your Planner and ask your grown-up to sign it each week. Mrs Shand will check the planners each Friday and will give you a sticker on our Reading Giants chart if you have had at least 5 reading sessions! Remember - we are working as a team to collect the most reads so if you don't read at home, your  year team won't have a chance at winning the most reads across the school.

Spellings - Year 3-  words ending with -ly  Year 4 - words ending in -ssion

Year 3s you need to identify the root word from the list of words

Year 4s you need to sort the words into those that have the base word ending in 't' and those that do not

Any questions, we're always on the playground at the end of the day- please speak to us.
