Our School Curriculum

In considering the children who attend our schools, the locality of our schools, prior experiences of our children and potential gaps in our current provision, we have identified 4 important curriculum drivers:

  1. Ambition and Challenge (enterprise)
  2. Outdoor Learning and Environment
  3. Cultural Diversity and the Arts
  4. Knowledge of Our Community in the World (philosophy)

These drivers will appear in topics throughout the year in every class and will be important in directing and enriching the experiences of our children. As part of the planning process, involving children, we will embrace all opportunities to embed these principles into practice.

By the time children leave our school we aim for them all to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens. To support our aims we will provide the following:

  • Swimming lessons for all ages
  • A range of cooking experiences
  • Awareness of important life skills such as enterprise ventures and money management
  • A sense of belonging within the local community through community and business links
  • Effective social skills, politeness and responsibility for self and others
  • Understanding of global citizenship and cultural diversity within and beyond Suffolk
  • Opportunities to take part in a range of arts based activities which enrich and develop creativity
