Copdock Weekly Update 30/06/17

Year 4 Sleepover: On Friday the year 4 pupils travelled from Copdock to Bentley for den building, team games, orienteering, campfire, marshmallows, water fight, sweets, DVD and eventually sleep!!! There are more photos on the website if you’d like to see what they got up to.

Crucial Crew: Last Friday saw Foxes make their way to The Mix in Stowmarket for Crucial Crew. One pupil provided this report:

“We went to crucial crew to learn a lot of life skill such as:-

  • CPR and how to put somebody into the recovery position
  • What to do itf there is a fire
  • Dogs safety (hoe to keep safe around a dog)
  • Sugar and your health (an 11 year old should have 7 sugar cubes a day and a 10 year old should only have 6)
  • Drug safety/what’s in a cigarette
  • What to be careful about in the streets

And lots more. It was a very fun day out and we all have learnt lots about how to keep ourselves safe now!”

Woodpeckers Visit to Chantry Park: As reward for earning 14 brain stickers, Woodpeckers spent the day at Chantry Park where they had quite an adventure. The children enjoyed a picnic and playing on the equipment, followed by a water fight back at school in the afternoon.

New Starters Lunch: Today we were joined by the new intake for September who spent the morning with us and then stayed for their first experience of lunch time at big school!

QuadKids: Earlier today 8 of our Woodpeckers joined 8 pupils from Bentley at a mini Olympic style event at Inspire. We will update you next week on how that went.

Summer Fayre: Don’t forget next Friday is the PTA Summer Fayre after school. There will be stalls a plenty and games to play with fabulous prizes to be won. Raffle tickets went home last week, if you would like any more, please contact the office or a PTA member. We would welcome any cake donations to sell at the fayre on the day please.

School Council Elections: This year Head Pupils and the new School Council will be elected before the end of term so they are ready to start the new term from the beginning. Next week will be a good time for children who wish to be considered for School Council and/or Head Pupil to put up posters with their election promises and they will need to be preparing their speeches. This can be done with parent support.

Monday 10th July is the date for potential new School Councillors to do their speeches to the school and for the vote to take place.

Friday 14th July is the date for potential new Head Pupils to do their speeches to the school and Mrs Austin, followed by the vote. Mrs Austin will then interview potential Head Pupils on Monday 17th July. Children can go for both jobs but you do need to be in Year 5 or 6 to be a Head Pupil. School Councillors are selected from each year group.

Pupils will have access to the Head Pupil job description via the Head Pupil board in school and may wish to speak to our current Head Pupils for advice before applying.

Don’t miss:- Bentley PTA Summer Fayre this Saturday 1st July 12-3pm on the School Field

SESAW Art Competition: See the email sent home this week for details of this competition. The deadline for entries is 14th July so get artistic and see what you can come up with.
