Copdock Weekly Update 22/09/17

Newsletter – 22nd September 2017

William Henry Hewitt: Previous and current head pupils attended the ceremony last Sunday to unveil the new village sign. It was great for the school to be involved and the children did us proud as representatives of not only our school but also our community.

PTA AGM: Why not go along to the PTA AGM on 19th October at 7.45pm at the school and see if there is anything you can help out with or offer your services to. There will be a review of the last year and focus going forward. Please come along and join this fantastic team.

Data Collection: The winner of the box of chocolates was Mia in Year 4!

If you have yet to return your forms, please do so as soon as possible. There may not be a box of chocolates up for grabs but it is very important that we have all data collection information up to date.

Sports Code of Conduct: Please ensure you have read the code of conduct on the school website:

http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/198975

If you intend to support the school or federation at any South Suffolk School Games events you are required to abide by the code and to encourage the participants to do likewise. Failure to do so could jeopardise our participation in future events.

Match Funding: As per the recent Governor newsletter, we are looking at different ways to raise funds for the school. The PTA work really hard all year and support us immensely. We currently have a working party looking into other methods of funding for a project to be launched later this term. If you work for a company that might be interested in match funding, please let us know so that we can ensure we get the most out of our efforts.

High School Applications: Year 6 have received their letters regarding high school applications and brochures from East Bergholt High. We have a Directory of Schools in Suffolk booklet in the office if parents would like to come and look through it for details of other schools in the county. Remember the deadline for applications is Tuesday 31st October.

Voice in a Million: Remember Foxes, the deadline for returning your booking form and T-shirt order is Friday 6th October. If you haven’t already done so, get ordering this weekend!

MacMillan Coffee Afternoon: Next Friday 29th September join us for coffee and cake from 2:30pm in aid of MacMillan. Admission is £1.50 for adults and 50p for children. See the posters for more details. Donations of cakes would be gratefully received – please bring them to the office on Thursday if possible.

NSPCC Parents Online Safety Workshop: Many thanks to all those parents who joined us at Bentley for the NSPCC workshop on Thursday evening. It was very informative. We do have some copies of leaflets given out available from the school office. NSPCC and O2 have teamed up to help parents keep their children safe online – you can get assistance on parental settings on devices at any O2 shop (may need to book an appointment) or by calling the free O2 helpline on 0808 800 5002 – regardless of what network you are using!
