Copdock Weekly Update 21/04/17

Mad Science Assembly: The term kicked off with a mad science assembly for the whole school followed by workshops for KS2. Apparently the broken leaf-blower was a hit with the children!

Internet Issue: Unfortunately we are still experiencing issues with our internet connection and have had no access from site to emails or the school website during this week. We are hoping this will be resolved as soon as possible although is it unlikely to be until the middle of next week. Hopefully normal service can then be resumed. Thank you for your patience with us during this period.

Menu Change: Just to remind you there is a revised menu on Monday 24th to celebrate St George’s Day! The options are toad in the hole with gravy, or vegetable and butterbean crumble, all with roast potatoes and vegetables. For dessert it’s bread & butter pudding!

New Menu: Please be advised that the new menu for week 3 has a mild chicken korma curry available on Tuesdays – we have been informed that this meal “may contain peanuts/nuts”.

Trips: On Monday, Woodpeckers will be heading to Braintree Museum to further their learning on the Stone Age to Iron Age. Whilst on Wednesday, KS1 will be visiting Orford Castle to learn about its history and to set them up for their upcoming topic. For both trips children will need to be in school uniform and to bring a packed lunch with plenty of water to drink. Depending on the weather, a rain coat, or sun cream/hat may also be required.

After School Clubs: You should have received a letter this week regarding after school clubs starting on Tuesday 25th – Tennis for KS1 and Dance for KS2. Please send replies in promptly as both are dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

Family Shared Assemblies: The new schedule for sharing in Friday assemblies during the summer term has been put on the website. Once we are able, we will email the link to parents, however you can access it directly on the website.

PTA Quiz Night: Don’t forget to return your form and monies to the office or a PTA team member by next Friday – you don’t have to have a full team of 6 to book your place. Tickets are £5 per head, the bar opens at 7:30pm with the quiz starting at 8pm.

Donations: We have received some money from one of our families who has kindly donated the money they were given for delivering compost to the allotment holders. We have also received £22.50 from the Brook Inn raised through their Easter Egg raffle. We will let you know in due course what this money will be put towards.

Miss Charrington: As you may be aware, Miss Charrington has injured her knee, some of the KS1 parents are organising a collection to send her some flowers. We have been asked by the parents to invite you to contribute to the collection by taking your money to the office on Monday. Many thanks.

Sports Day: Unfortunately we need to change the proposed date for sports day this year. As soon as a new date is decided we will let you know – apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Diary Dates: We have spotted an error on the website calendar for the PD day in October – this should be the 20th and NOT the 30th as advertised. This has now been amended on the site. Once again, we apologise for any confusion caused.

Ipswich High School for Girls - entrance exams: information about the process and timescales for applications in 2018 can be found on the website www.ipswichhighschool.co.uk/Year-7-entrance
