Bentley Weekly Update 23.06.17

Den Day – Thank you to all the families who made a donation to Save The Children on Den Day – we raised £42 for this wonderful charity. As you can see from the pictures above, the children had a great time building their construction masterpieces.

Reports - reports will be coming out soon and children and teachers are busy reflecting on progress and successes throughout the year. You will also receive a comment sheet to complete and return to school as acknowledgement of your child's Learning Journey report. It would be great to have all comment sheets returned before the end of the term this year!

PE Kits – We still have a number of children who do not have their PE kits in school. They need their kits in everyday please and children with long hair must at least have a hairband in their kit. Earrings should not be worn at all on Thursdays and any child who is unable to remove their earrings themselves, must not wear them to school on any day, as we take part in different sporting activities throughout the week. Notes will be coming home with those children who either do not have their kit or have things missing; in particular, we are finding that a lot of children do not have trainers in school. Thank you in anticipation for your cooperation.

Music Celebration – The children in years 5 and 6 travelled to Jerwood House in Ipswich this week to take part in a music celebration day along with children from many other schools. It was an opportunity for them all to perform a tune together using the different instruments children around the county have been taught this year. Our children demonstrated their skills with the flute and we were impressed with all the progress they have made. Well done.

Banquet Day – Children in Key Stage 1 put on a feast and entertainment for their parents at Banquet Day this week. They slaved away in the kitchen to make swan pie (we used Quorn pieces, not real swan!), apple pottage and red wine (blackcurrant, honest!). The pupils prepared some medieval musical entertainment for the parents and we all joined together for a Tudor dance! Thank you to all who came along to make this a memorable occasion. Pictures are on the website as well as at the top of this page.

Adders and Hedgehogs Time Telling – Please could you work with your children at home on telling the time, particularly those children in years 2, 3 and 4. We are working on this quite a lot at the moment and it would really help to consolidate their learning at home. Thank you.

Next Week

Monday - Years 5 and 6 to meet mini-bus to travel to Copdock for flute tuition.

Tuesday – Whole School and Leavers’ photos in the afternoon.

Psalm 139 day.

Friday – Under 9s Quad Kids Competition at Inspire.

Bunnies session right through to 1pm including lunch.

Saturday – Summer Fete 12-3pm.

Leavers’ BBQ – As most of you will be aware, there has traditionally been a Grand Prix competition held at the annual Leavers’ BBQ. This year, we have an exciting development! The PTA have come up with a new competition to build the fastest boat. Please see the leaflets attached to the email sent to you with the link for this update for more information. Everybody is welcome to the BBQ, parents and children old and new (bunnies parents, you would be very welcome), it is a lovely evening (albeit rather emotional) as we wish our year 6 pupils all the very best in the next stage of their education. This year’s event is set to take place on Wednesday 19th July from 6pm in the school grounds.

Whole School Trip – The children have chosen to go to Bourne Park for their Whole School Trip having raised the money themselves with their Enterprise Project. They would prefer a picnic to sausage and chips this year so all your child will need to bring will be a sandwich of their choice and drinks – all other food will be provided. A letter will be coming home with all the details and can also be found on the letters section of the website
