Bentley Weekly Update 19.05.17

Year 5 and 6 to Copdock – Just a quick reminder that all children in years 5 and 6 need to meet the mini-bus every morning next week and the week after half term, as they are going to be taught at Copdock with the year 5 and 6 pupils there; Mrs Robinson will be teaching. The bus collects the children from the layby opposite the war memorial at 8:35am promptly. Alternatively you can drop your child at school for collection, in which case they need to be here by 8:30am at the very latest.

Year 2 SATs – Year 2 will be sitting their SATs next week. Please be aware of this if you are in and around school as we would like to keep the noise in school down to a minimum for them to concentrate. If possible, it would be helpful if any non-urgent enquiries could be made by email next week rather than by phone. Thank you.

Walk to School Week – This has been a very successful event this week and we would like to congratulate all those children and families who took part, particularly those who walked to school every day! Thank you to all those who contributed a £1 on happy Shoesday, a few people have told us that they still need to bring their £1 in so hopefully we will be able to tell you how much was raised next week. Eco council have enjoyed organising this event and would like to say thank you for taking part and helping the environment by using cars less. Even morning club got in on the act and met at the memorial every morning this week to walk to school.

More Help Sewing Please! – Thank you ever so much to those parents who have kindly offered to come in and help with sewing in Wolves class this week. Our project is still ongoing and we need more parent helpers next week. If you can spare the time, we are looking for helpers from 2pm on Tuesday and 1pm on Wednesday. Please email in or let Mrs Rudge know if you can help.

More Wedding Bells – Miss Young, our SENCo and Hedgehogs teacher, is getting married this weekend! When we return next week, she shall be Mrs North. We wish her and her husband to be a joyful day and I am sure you all join us in congratulating them both.

Netball Tournament – Selected pupils from years 5 and 6 will be taking part in a netball tournament on Tuesday next week. Letters have gone home with those children involved and we wish them luck in the event.

Chickens Over Half-term – If you can help with the chickens over half term, we would love to hear from you. They just need fresh food and water twice a day and are very friendly animals.

New Starters – We have had the induction meeting for the parents of those children starting in September and we are very excited about Bunnies starting the first week back after the half-term break. Every Friday morning for 5 weeks we will be welcoming our new starters into Wolves class to meet the children and staff and familiarise themselves with the school ready for September. I am sure you join us in welcoming these young ones to our Bentley Family.

Non-Uniform Day – There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 9th June in return for items for the traditional tombola stall at the PTA summer fete. As ever, this is completely optional and if your child would rather wear uniform that is fine. If you donate any food or drink items, please, please, please check the use by / best before date on them as frequently the PTA have to throw away a number of items donated as they have either already expired or expire before the day of the fete. Thank you.

Midday Supervisor Vacancy – We have a vacancy for a midday supervisor from September for either one or two days a week. If you would be interested in apply for this role please contact the office who will be able to provide you with more information.
