Bentley Weekly Update 16.06.17

Sports Day - This year’s event was a resounding success with a huge number of parents and grandparents coming along to cheer the children on. It was an extremely close fought competition this year with only 1 point between the joint second and third teams!!!!! Congratulations to the red team who won overall and also to all the children who did their very best on a hot day!

Den Day – Thank you all for sending in your £1 donations for Save The Children, a few people have spoken to us to say that they had forgotten and will send the money in on Monday. If you would like to donate but didn’t today, please do pass on your donations to Mrs Rudge on Monday, we will then hopefully be able to let you know the total in next week’s update! The children have had great fun building dens in the grounds, even the Bunnies joined in with the Reception children this morning.

Quad Kids – Children from years 5 and 6 represented the school in a competition that saw them compete against teams of children from over 64 other schools. They competed in a variety of events including 600m run, long jump, vortex throwing and sprint. We are very proud of all the effort the team put in…it was a long day and all too much for some of them!

Next Week

Monday - Years 5 and 6 Music Celebration day at Jerwood House – Tickets (one per family) have been sent home today (Friday) for those who requested one. Please check your child’s bag if it hasn’t been handed to you.

Tuesday – Family gardening event straight after school – refreshments will be provided.

Wednesday - Key Stage 1 Banquet Day, come dressed up in ‘castle’ clothes. Parents are welcome to join us from 2pm to be entertained and fed ‘medieval’ food.

Friday – Crucial Crew – All children in Years 5 and 6 to be at school by 08:30am to meet the coach.

Year 4 sleepover at Bentley straight after school! Prepare for a water fight!

Year 3 and 4 Quad Kids – Following on from the big Quad Kids event this week, we are very excited to confirm that an event for children in years 3 and 4 has now been confirmed. If your child is selected to take part, a letter will be sent home from Mrs North next week. The date of this event will be Friday 30th June.

PTA Raffle Tickets – Today was the date to have raffle tickets (sold or unsold) back in school. We have had a great response but are still missing quite a few. Please do not worry if you haven’t sold the tickets, just send them back in as they can be sold on the day. Thank you.

Football Club – If your child is taking part in the football club after school on Thursdays, please note that week five will take place on Thursday 20th July, not Thursday 13th July, as this date clashes with the Pleasurewood Hills trip.

School Finance Letter – A copy of the letter from Governors regarding school finance was attached to the email sent with the link to this weekly update. It can also be found on the school website by clicking here. Please do read it as it contains important information for parents.

Cricket Lashings – Another exciting bit of news is that we have been invited to take part in the opening day of the new pavilion at Copdock Cricket Club. To mark the day, a team of All Star cricket players will be coming to the club and professional coaches will be teaching the lucky children involved! A letter will be sent home next week to those children who have been selected. The event will take place on Wednesday 5th July.
