Bentley Weekly Update 09.06.17

Can you believe it? We are in the last half term of this academic year already! With lots of events coming up, please keep an eye on the diary and calendar on the website for any changes.

Badgers’ Last day at CopdockThis date has changed – the last day that Year 6 will travel to Copdock will be Thursday 22nd June. On Friday 23rd June we have………..

Crucial Crew – All children in years 5 and 6 need to meet at Bentley School at 8:30 am to get the coach to this very important and exciting visit.

Next week - Over the course of the week, children in year 1 and those who missed out last year will take part in the Phonics Screening assessment. You should have a pack at home to help your child practice their phonics ready for next week.

Monday – Years 5 and 6 meet the minibus and travel to Copdock for flute tuition.

Tuesday - A Head of Year from East Bergholt High School meeting Year 6 pupils in the morning at Copdock

Wednesday – Selected years 5/6 Kate Greenaway book shadowing need packed lunch – selected years 5/6 Quad kids (see letters for details).

ThursdaySPORTS DAY! Everybody needs a packed lunch. Please see the letter for details of which colour team your child is in. We will be walking to the field from school ready for parents to join us for a picnic lunch. We will be leaving the school shortly after 12noon and would love to have parents help us walk the children safely to the field. If you can help us with this, please either let the office or Mrs Rudge know, thank you. Events will take place over the course of the afternoon and children can be collected from the field after the awards ceremony. Football club for year 2-6 will start straight after sports day and those children will need to be collected at 4:30pm.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure your child has a drinks bottle with them, sun cream and sun hat as well as their packed lunch on the day. If anybody has any pop up gazebos they could bring, that would be fantastic.

FridayNext Friday 16th June is Den Day in school. We are raising money for Save the Children and learning how not all children in the world have shelter. If you want to take part, please come to school in old clothes or clothes that you are happy to get dirty. Please bring in a donation of £1. Reception children and the new starters 'Bunnies' will be making dens in the morning, followed by Year 1 and 2 after play. Adders class and Badgers will be making dens in the afternoon. Poppy and Katie will be collecting money at the start of the day on the playground. Thank you for supporting this great charity. From School Council.

Year 5/6 need to bring their flutes in on Friday ready for their music celebration day the following Monday.

Other news

Castle Banquet - We are planning a Castle Banquet Day on Wednesday 21st June where we would like children to come in dressed up in castle clothes for the day - rich or poor! Parents are invited in to be entertained by the children and to try medieval food from 2pm. If any parents want to join in with the spirit of the day and dress up, we would love you to join in too!

Thank you – Our grateful thanks go to Doug and Spike who gave up their time this week to put together, shelves, welly racks and trolleys as well as fixing bits and pieces for us. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated.
