Bentley Weekly Update 03.11.17

Thank you – To everybody who supported this year’s Eco Council Halloween Disco. We are very grateful to all those parents and grandparents who came along to help make it a fabulous event. All the adults who helped were marvellous, from the beautiful face painting to keeping the children hydrated at the very busy drinks table and crowd control, we couldn’t have done without you. One special thank you as well to a former pupil at Bentley, Ella, who (with the help of her brother Ben in Year 6) made the delicious cupcakes that the children were given. The children had great fun and the night helped raise much needed funds for Eco Council.

Wolves – Even more parent helpers have been into school this week helping children in years 1 and 2 with their sewing project. We will be continuing to sew next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30pm. We desperately need more parents to come in and help if you can. Please speak to Mrs Rudge or email the office if you can help. Thank you.

Christmas Plays – A heads up for you in case you need to book time off work to come and see this year’s performances; Key Stage 1 (Wolves) will be putting on the lovely Nativity based play, “Dinky Donkeys” and will be putting on 2 performances, the first at 1:30pm and the second at 6:00pm both on Tuesday 12th December. Key Stage 2 (Hedgehogs and Adders) will be performing the play “Christmas Around the World”. Obviously with the number of pupils in each class, there will be quite a demand for tickets for these productions, so to accommodate all the families Key Stage 2 will be putting on three performances. The first will be at 2:15pm on Monday 11th December, the second at 2:15pm on Tuesday 12th December and the third at 6:45pm also on Tuesday 12th December. Initially we are offering Key Stage 1 parents 2 tickets per performance per family. For Key Stage 2 we are offering 2 tickets per family for 2 of the three performances. If any one performance is oversubscribed though, we may have to draw names from a hat or ask you if you could get to a different performance. We are anticipating a high demand for the evening performance. Any tickets left will offered out after the first round of requests. Please email the office by Friday 1st December with the number of tickets you would ideally like and for which performances. This will then give us time to work out how many spare tickets we have and allocate them.

We regret that filming and photographing of the performances will not be allowed due to photo / recording permissions not being granted for some children. There will be opportunities for photos to be taken after each performance though. We would also respectfully ask you to be considerate of seating arrangements, last year we did have a situation where some parents were lucky enough to come to all performances and sat in the front for them all; if you are fortunate enough to be able to come to more than one performance, it would be lovely if different parents could experience the view from the first few rows. Thank you.

Children in Need – Hopefully you have all seen the letter from School Council about Children in Need this year. On Friday 17th November children can come to school wearing something yellow in return for a £1 donation for the charity. There will also be biscuit decorating for 25p and a cake sale after school.

Key Stage 1 Football Tournament – A huge well done to those children in Wolves who took part in the football tournament at Inspire this week. They played against children from lots of schools in the area and represented the school brilliantly with their lovely teamwork and great effort. This was the first ever tournament these children had taken part in and we are so proud of how well they did.

Sing Up! – Years 5 and 6 are travelling to the Royal Hospital School on Monday 13th November to take part in this annual event. Please return the permission slip on the letter sent home as soon as possible, confirming that you are able to collect your child from the venue. The letter can be found on the school website.
